Is searching biosignatures on icy moons similar to searching biosignatures on Mars ?

The presence of organic matter is a condition that is deemed necessary to assess habitability. The search for organic matter could also lead to the detection of biosignatures. Today, a significant number of astrochemists look at Mars and numerous space probes continue to study the red planet. However, Jupiter and Saturn gain a new notoriety : their icy satellites Europa, Enceladus or Titan hold a high potential for detecting organic compounds and possibly biosignatures. We are preparing further exploration probes to investigate these ocean worlds, but those bodies raise new scientific and tehchnological challenges. The so-called heritage is often an illusion.
