Two Eiffel Towers ? Could it be a mirage caused by the heatwave ? Not at all ! It’s the drone show and fireworks display organised by the City of Paris to mark Bastille Day, which is being celebrated on 13 July this year as a one-off.
The Meudon site of the Paris Observatory offers an exceptional panoramic view of the capital. Every year, it serves as a prime vantage point from which to admire this summer spectacle.
Taken from the Observatory’s terrace, near the Grande Coupole, this photograph captures the ballet of illuminated drones above the Eiffel Tower, whilst the fireworks light up the Parisian sky. To the right of the image, the silhouette of the Sacré-Cœur stands out, rising above the trees in the park.
