As part of a long-standing cultural partnership, the Paris Observatory and the Hauts-de-Seine Departmental Council have worked together to offer enriching educational experiences to a variety of audiences, particularly those who are far removed from culture.

This year, Alain Doressoundiram, a researcher at LIRA - Observatoire de Paris-PSL, led a cultural tour on the theme of space exploration of the Solar System. The tour included a number of events, fun activities, lectures and solar observations, tailored to different audiences. The visit to the Observatory provided an opportunity for 5th form students from Les Bruyères secondary school in Courbevoie, a group of ULIS students from the same school and a group of elderly people from the Pont independent residence in Neuilly-sur-Seine to meet and talk about astronomy and space. These encounters gave rise to enriching discussions and mutual human discoveries.

For several years now, the Observatoire de Paris has been a cultural partner of the Hauts-de-Seine Departmental Council, involving LIRA staff in a range of events such as "La science se livre", the literary prize and "Chemins des arts". The latter aims to bring together different audiences, particularly those who are far removed from culture. The programme for the visit, put together by Alain Doressoundiram, Michele Lissoni, a doctoral student at LIRA, and Raphael Peralta, LIRA’s communications officer, included a tour of the solar system, a visit to the large siderostat, an observation through the 1m telescope, and a picnic on site, providing an immersive and educational day out for all participants.
