Exo4Edu : a European project to bring exoplanets closer to the classroom

6 octobre 2025 Exo4Edu : a European project to bring exoplanets closer to the classroom

Selected by the ERASMUS+ programme (2024-2027), the Exo4Edu project aims to disseminate accessible and rigorous knowledge about exoplanets and the search for life in the Universe to secondary school teachers and their pupils.

Coordinated by Alain Doressoundiram (LIRA, Observatoire de Paris-PSL) and supported by the UFE of the Observatoire de Paris-PSL, Exo4Edu brings together an international consortium made up of Global Hands-on Universe (GHOU), the University of Tirana and the Institute of Astronomy of the Romanian Academy. Together, astronomers, education experts and 3D technology specialists are devising an integrated approach to bring advances in scientific research closer to the classroom, while strengthening skills in the STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).

The project will develop an educational toolkit including an up-to-date database on exoplanets, appropriate resources and activities, and training for teachers. Teachers will be able to introduce their pupils to the analysis of real data and to scientific investigation methods, enabling them to familiarise themselves with a fast-growing area of research : the search for habitable planets.

The first national presentation webinar took place on Wednesday 1 October 2025 and was a great success, with over 80 teachers taking part by videoconference !
You too can join the adventure by participating in the project !
