Founded in 1988, the Academia Europaea’s mission is to promote excellence in research and higher education at European and international level. It brings together leading researchers from the fields of science, technology, medicine, the humanities and social sciences, as well as law and economics. Guy Perrin’s election is a major recognition of his scientific contributions, his international standing and his commitment to European research. This distinction follows a career recently marked by his promotion to the rank of Officer of the National Order of Merit and the award of the CNRS Executive Medal of Honour in 2025. He thus joins several leading scientists from the Paris Observatory-PSL and LIRA who are already members of the Academia Europaea, including Françoise Combes, Athena Coustenis, Pierre Encrenaz, Thérèse Encrenaz, Pierre Léna and James Lequeux.
